Does anyone know a material that can rapidly transition from hard to soft and back again on demand?

I have an application/project where I need a material that is hard and supports an adult person's weight but can turn soft rapidly (within 1 second) and on demand (electrically/magnetically/heat controlled). Basically I was looking at some modular Magnetorheological Foam based solution but not having worked with them I don't know how complicated it is to work with them and how much weight they would be able to support. Can they become solid or only semi-solid? Any solutions will be greatly appreciated. Or is there any substance of a hard nature that can be rapidly heated to become clayey/slimey/soft (within a second) and without burning skin (some heat exchange could be tolerated using insulation but within reason)?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.
