How do i root a Mytouch 3g without: using more than 1 MicroSD card, logging into the Gmail account (i dont have a data plan,
actually have the block so data cant be sent/received, so i am stuck with verylimited functionality, pretty much just make emergency calls and setup APNs)
and is there an easy way to doit where you can just hook up the phone via usb and run a program? i have 8gb microSD, if necessary, and just unlocked the phone for other networks. i want to use a rom/version of android that doesnt require you to use the data to login to gmail. if i have to login to gmail, i would prefer to do so via WIFI. so what im looking for is a way to root the mt3g (basically adp2, network unlocked anyway, idk about the other lock.) without being able to access the contents of the SD card from the phone, without being able to do pretty much anything with the phone itself unless there is a special code that lets me in without setting it up with GMAIL.. thats why i ask if theres a way to do it via the usb cable and some software. so is it possible, and how?

ok heres the deal: time warner cable/tmobile wants money. google/microsoft wants you to login to Gmail. but since tmobile/time warner cable wants money, and sells the phone only if you buy their data plan, you are not allowed to do the initial setup logging into gmail over wifi, with the stock tmobile android rom, only with a data provisioned sim. so i bought this phone from a friend, didnt know you needed a dataplan to set it up, and havent seen her to borrow her sim since then. probably going to see her tomorrow night though, then i can root it the normal way hopefully. it is supposed to work for any sim once you have setup gmail with a sim w/ data. and then you can use the wifi and all the phones features.
i would delete this question if i knew how, as i have already unlocked, rooted, and upgraded to 2.1, cyanogenmod 5.0.7, which lets you do what farso was saying, use wifi instead of 3g (to sync with that stupid gmail thing).
ima go ahead and give farso best answer because farso is the only one that answered, and there probably was a way, if i loaded a hacked rom, to login to gmail using wifi before i got to step 3 of the rooting process. i had to use someone else's sim card with the Android plan 2 times, first to do step 1, downgrade to cupcake from donut, then after that step was complete. then you set godmode=1 and you're supastr8.
watch out for those ads on megaupload, the unlockr uses to let you download the files. the ads that are counting down like 'you have 5 seconds left to click this' try to install a trojan. or two idk but avast saved me.
i no longer have the phone all locked up like in the question. its unlocked and has been logged into gmail so i can use it. has 1.6 so ima need to downgrade. looking for a better keyboard, and less reliance on 3g. i finally got to the android market via wifi instead of 3g. but i need it to feel more like a computer. i cant find the alt+tab, so i have to retype the web address after i press the home key.
