multiple methods. all depending on how much you want to spend.

1. You can get a set of glasses with LCD's in them. These glasses are likely to NOT have the RCA/composite in, unless they're for TV, in which case they're also looking for an AC power source. They will also be >$200 for a crappy pair.

2. if you dont mind looking like Kurt hectic from MDK (which would be fricking awesome), you can mount a small LCD from a game console such as http://www.amazon.com/LCD-Screen-playstation/dp/B00005QI2S . I've gutted many versions of these, and the internals are always minimal and compact. I actually used this screen 10 years ago when i built my Car computer. This is somewhat bulky, but will be the easiest and likely cheapest since it has composite/rca in, and runs on 7.5vdc

3. Hunt through wal-mart for digital frames with a comp input. Good luck.

4.If you dont mind breaking and soldering, here is the most FUN option:
Go to value village, or a thrift shop and look for old camcorders- look for ones with the periscope style viewfinder. Many f these periscopes are self contained LCD's, and can be pulled off and spliced into, at which point you can add your own comp port on it. This is by far the coolest method, and will have the most street cred- but it also requires knowledge of internal electronics and reverse engineering.

Any more questions, bring em on.

aww dude you cant give up on option b that quick- just buy one online. they make a version for every console out there (gamecube, ps2, ps3, xbox, etc...) all they do is change the outer casing- which goes in the trash anyway. Out here in canada (eh) they're carried in best buy and future shop.

But if you're out to tinker on the cheap- it's time to hunt.

Go to every thrift shop and garage sale you can find. Then look for anything with an lcd that works sizewise- i woudnt even bother worrying about whether or not it's useable, because if its cheap and you break it.. no big deal.

If it has no RCA port- once again not a problem. Co-ax can be adapted to rca, S-video and VGA can aswell (although the video to vga tend to be bulky and expensive.).

Your prey of choice will be as follows:
1. no cellphones.
2. digital cameras with viewfinders are acceptable- but may be fruitless.
3. Camcorders with lcd's are worth more than gold. these typically have RCA ports connected in a way that require almost no rewiring- just rip off anything you dont need. Either the periscope or LCD panel work .

Ordering cheap chinese crap online will save you lots of time though. you can try mini lcd's with standard inputs- i usually use models built for automotive applications. We used to have "pyle audio" lcd's for sale around here- they had rca in, and were dirt cheap.

there's also things like these:

Hope something there helps. If you find a donor device and want some input, take some pics of its guts and we'll see what we can do.
