on my hero. (you have to have root access) I like it quite well. You can control who connects to your 'mini access point' and the speed is good. It appears the droid is supported also.

M$I currently run with Wifi tether on my droid, but i have rooted it and replaced the kernel. Rooting is going to be the first step no matter which tethering program you use.
