What is the best place to buy electronic components?

What is your favorite place to buy electronic components (i.e.: ICs, etc.)? Does any one have a wider selection/more reliability than another?
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

DigiKey and Mouser have a wide selection and stock most items. Have to buy qty 25 or more of most stuff to get a good price.
Jameco often has a lower price on small quantity of common parts.
Futurlec is OK if you can wait a while to get the parts (not in the USA).

You need to find some electronic components B2B platforms, as we often find the company's website: http://www.seekic.com/
http://www.chinaicmart.com/. Other comprehensive sites also, such as: http://www.alibaba.com/ .

eBay isn't quite the best place to buy reliable components, but it's diverse and cheap. you can't go wrong with Sparkfun. Digikey is reliable as well. Don't buy from Radio Shack unless it's convenient for you - it's overpriced (and the staff there isn't always the best and brightest when it comes to electronic components. These days they sell more consumer electronics than anything).

Old news, Old question, but....

1) DigiKey.
2) Mouser
3) Sparkfun
4) E-bay
5) Direct from the manufacturers web site.

Digikey and Mouser have just about anything you can think of from replica and replacement old school electronic components to the newest high end multicore MCU's/DSP's. AND!!!, they have respectable prices, including many shipping options.

Sparkfun makes a lot of niche break boards and prebuilt stuff that is good for hobbyist and for prototyping things. Good for proto board too. Precises fair for what they offer.

E-bay has some really good deals on things from time to time if you are patient and check in often. This is also about the only option for getting authentic electronics for a fair price, But expect to get bum deals every now and then.

And lastly, manufacturers web sites can some times be good for the hobbyist, but are most often tailored toward suppliers or other manufacturers. A few of note are Microchip direct and Maxim. Most importantly, you can also get free samples with this option *IF* you have a e-mail address other than the normal free "social E-mail addresses" like Gmail or Yahoo mail.
